Healthy Fruit Breakfast Smoothie Recipe

This recipe came from busy mornings when finding time for breakfast was hard. Tossing together available fruits, yogurt, and almond milk created a refreshing blend that fueled an active day. Making smoothies became a simple morning ritual that is both easy and satisfying.

Ingredients
  

Breakfast Smoothie Base
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice plus additional as needed
  • 1 medium banana cut into chunks and frozen or 1 (5-ounce) container plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1.5 cups frozen fruit strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, mango, etc.
Optional Add-Ins
  • To taste Maple syrup or honey
  • 1 handful spinach or kale
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons nut butter
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, flax seeds, or hemp hearts
  • 1 tablespoon old-fashioned or quick oats
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Optional Garnishes
  • As desired Fresh fruit
  • As desired Chia seeds, hemp hearts, or ground flax seeds
  • As desired Ground cinnamon

Method
 

  1. Add the almond milk to the blender first. Add the banana or yogurt, followed by the frozen fruit and any optional add-ins you are using.
  2. Start the blender on low speed, then increase the speed slowly to high. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth. Add more milk if the mixture is too thick.
  3. Pour the smoothie into a glass and add your desired garnishes.
