Quick Sausage and Cream Pasta

Ingredients
  

For the Pasta
  • 1 package Pasta
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Onion chopped (optional)
  • 1 pkg Jimmy Dean Regular bulk sausage
  • 6 oz Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup Beef Stock or 1 cup water with bouillon paste
  • 1 cup Light Cream heavy cream also works
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
Optional Topping
  • Parmesan Cheese freshly grated

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large skillet

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta in salted boiling water according to package directions. Drain.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over low heat. Add chopped onion if using and cook until soft.
  3. Add sausage meat to the skillet and fry until browned. Drain off excess fat if desired.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste and beef stock. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
  5. Pour in the cream and stir to combine. Heat through but do not boil.
  6. Combine the drained pasta with the sauce. Stir well to coat.
  7. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

This recipe is easily adaptable. Feel free to add your favorite vegetables or spices. The sauce can be made ahead and reheated, making it a great option for meal prep.
