Ingredients

For the Sausage & Pasta
  • 1 lb smoked sausage sliced
  • 8 oz pasta spaghetti, rigatoni or penne
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
For the Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water to thicken
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • Chopped parsley or basil
  • Extra red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Bowl

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Remove sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. In the same skillet, add chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in the pasta. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the pasta is al dente, about 10–12 minutes.
  4. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the skillet with the pasta. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for 2–3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat the pasta and sausage with the sauce. Cook for 1–2 minutes more.
  6. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley or basil, and extra red pepper flakes if desired. Serve hot.
