Sunny-Side Up Fried Eggs

A simple method for making sunny-side up fried eggs. This recipe results in perfectly set whites and runny yolks, ideal for a quick breakfast.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Skillet (cast iron, carbon steel, or nonstick)
  • Glass lid

Method
 

  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat until it foams lightly. Tilt the pan to distribute the butter evenly.
  2. Carefully break the eggs into the skillet. Season with salt and cover with a glass lid.
  3. Cook until the whites are just set, about 1 minute and 30 seconds.
  4. Remove the lid and continue to cook for another 1 minute and 30 seconds, or until the whites are completely set and the yolks are still runny.
  5. Transfer the eggs to a plate, season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.
